Mrs Leng Kim Choon (Bukit Brown)

Mrs Leng Kim Choon / Madam Lee Ah Liang passed away at the age of 54 years on August 16, 1940. She is buried in Hill 3 Section C, plot 105. On first glance her tomb looks like a tomb of a young child, but on closer inspection, it states she has a surviving son, Leng Chak Ngian and researching the burial records tells of her age and the newspapers archives of a Mr. Leng Chak Ngian,( the eldest son of Mr Leng Kim Choon and the late Madam Lee Ah Liang ) being engaged to Miss Poh Soo Lian, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Poh Ewe Boo formerly of Penang. Their engagement was announced in March 1941.

His mother, Mrs Leng Ah Maw passed away in July 27, 1927, 6 pm at 85 Bukit Timah Road at the age of 57. She is survived by 4 sons, Leng Peng Wah, Leng Kap Loong, Leng Ah Kong and Leng Kim Choon, 2 daughters, 3 daughter-in-laws, 1 son-in-law, 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Leng Kim Choon was the Chief Clerk of the Singapore Turf Club, a Council Member of the Clerical Union and also a Hon. Secretary in entertainment events in aid of the China Relief Fund.

No information on when he passed away, but in July 25, 1947, an advertisement seeking claimants for the estate of the deceased Mr Leng Kim Choon indicates he passed away pre-1947.
