Alice Chua (Bukit Brown)

Invitations were issued by Mr. Lim Swee to a large party to dinner on Saturday (May 1932) at his residence 184-1 Pasir Panjang, 6 1/4 miles. It was the occasion of the marriage of his son, Mr. Lim Teck Kim (of the Central Works Store) to Miss Alice Chua (the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chua Yeow Kee, a well known local businessman). Over 200 guests partook in the Chinese dinner. After dinner, several gust accompanied the bridegroom and his party to the bride's house at Tanglin Hill, where the usual bridal toasts were given. (very likely 2 Tanglin Hill).

The marriage was unfortunately shortlived, as Alice Chua passed away less than 5 years later after marriage at the age of 31 on 17 March 1937.

Her marble tomb is unique as it is in English with Hokkien. It reads;
