Cheong Kiong Boo (Bukit Brown)

Cheong Kiong Boo passed away at his residence, No. 364 Joo Chiat Road at the age of 47 on 13 September 1939. He leaves behind his wife,
4 sons; Cheong Swee Hock, Cheong Teng Hock, Cheong Yew Hock, Cheong Lai Hock
2 daughters; Cheong Swee Neo, Cheong Lai Neo

In his tomb, the lai is spelt as lye (as in Cheong Lye Hock, Cheong Lye Neo ). The name matches the article in the obituary notice. Cheong Kiong Boo was a second vice president of the Eng Wah Kok Association (1935), an hon. superintendent of the Straits Union Football  Club (1931).

The engagement is announced on 16 February 1947 between Mr. Lim Bah Chee (the only son of Mrs. Lim Peng Chye and the late Mr. Lim Peng Chye ) to Miss Cheong Swee Neo (the eldest daughter of Mrs. Cheong Kiong Boo and the late Mr. Cheong Kiong Boo). 


The tomb of Mr. Cheong Kiong Boo is slowly disappearing. with roots from a nearby tree slowly engulfing its tomb.
