Khoo Eng Keat passed away at the age of 21 on 9 December 1923. He was interred in Bukit Brown 2 days later on 11 December 1923. On his art deco tomb, it list the name of his son. Khoo Kehg Chin (likely pronounced as Khoo Keng Chin). In his burial entry, his name is written as Khoo Eng Kiat.

The only possible mention of Khoo Eng Kiat during that timeline was of him as a student of Outram Road School in 1917.
