The death of Mr. Wee Ah Peng, father of Mr. Wee Chwee Tee, Municipal and Government Contractor occurred on Monday. Deceased, who was 85 years old leaves a widow, 6 children, 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The eldest grandson is Mr. William Hwatt of the Heap Eng Moh Steamship Co. The funeral will take place on Sunday leaving Moulmein Road for Bukit Timah Cemetery. 

Based on the above article, a number of things matches - Monday is 25 August 1924 (as etched on Wee Boon Pheng's tomb). Other than Wee Chwee Tee (his son's name), the funeral date 31 August 1924 (according to the burial registrat)  was a Sunday. In the burial registrar, his name was written as Wee Pheng and of course that he was not buried in Bukit Timah Cemetery as reported in the papers but at Bukit Brown Cemetery.
