Junction of Hugh Low Street and Belfied Street in Ipoh (Images from the Past)

This old photograph with a long date range (1950 -1970) shows a wonderful glimpse of a dazzling Ipoh long gone. Fortunately from the side of the building i could make out Belfied Street and at the end of the road i could make out a bridge. Another big landmark that help confirmed the location is the Overseas Building or Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation, Ipoh Branch (the white building with the Tuscan columns on its facade).

When i zoom in further into this photograph, i can see multiple modes of transport including bicycles, trishaw, motorbikes and of course cars. It is also interesting to note that Hugh Low Street back then was a two way street. In today's context, Hugh Low Street today is renamed as Jalan Sultan Iskandar while Belfied Street is Jalan Sultan Yusof.

If you can make out the names of the shops, do leave a comment below.
