Woman and Son Bankrupt - Nonya's Evidence in Malay
An elderly Chinese woman, dressed in nyonya style was stated to possess securities worth $42,000 as when Seet Lian Seck passed away in 1908, Chee Wan Lee Neo was the adminstratrix of the estate which included a rubber plantation in Jurong Road worth $33,000 and the house in Teluk Ayer Street worth $8,500. She said he was illiterate and did not know what her total liabilities were.
Her son, Seet Ghim Siew (age 39 in 1939) bought and sold shares on a small scale and had a wife and 8 children. He too was one of the beneficiaries of the late father estate. He said his mother mortgaged their house and rubber estate to the Hong Kong Bank to stand gurantee for Yeo Peng Hong as head shroff of the bank but left the bank in April 1938 because of his indebtedness.

On 9 January 1925 at No. 20, Thomson Road, Mr. Seet Ghin Siew (second son of the late Mr. Seet Lian Saick and cousin of Mr. See Tiong Wah, J.P., M.C. ) to Miss Tan Chit Neo (only daughter of the late Mr. Tan Keong Ghee and niece of Mr. Koh San Hin, J.P. , Mrs. Lee Choon Guan, M.B.E. , Mr. Lee Chim Tuan, J.P. and Mr. Tan Cheng Kee, J.P.
Seet Ghin Siew of No. 12 Nallur Road (unemployed) was an undischarged bankrupt in 1939.

The wedding celebration of Mr. Tan Kay Chuan (Proprietor of Kay's Trading Company and brother of of Messrs. Tan Kay Ong of Saigon and Tay Kay Boo) married Miss Seet Kim Luan (youngest daughter of Madam Chi Wan Lee Neo of Thompson Road) was witness by a great number of friends and relatives at the residence of the bridegroom, No. 17, Lorong 14, off Gaylang Road. on 5 November 1925.
Madam Seet Kim Laun (youngest daughter of the late Mr. Seet Lian Siak and Mrs. Seet Lian Siak (Madam Chi Wan Lee Neo) passed away peacefully at residence, No. 3 Chapel Road on 3 October 1934. She is buried in Bukit Brown (Malacca papers please copy).
From the burial records, Seet Kim Luan was 29 years old when she passed away. Her tomb is located at Block 3 Section D, plot 1117.
