Bukit Brown can be also considered the burial ground of Singapore bankers, forefathers of our finance industry. This is another prominent banker, Tan Swee Hoe.
Tan Swee Hoe came to Singapore as a young boy and worked his way up, eventually becoming one of founders of Ho Hong Bank, and later a director of Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC) after it merged with it. He was also for two terms, the president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Batu Pahat, shareholder of Ho Aik Steamships. Tan Swee Hoe was a member of the Council of State, Johore and received a title S.M.J from the government of Johore in 1929 for his contributions. He owned several property in Singapore and Batu Pahat.
Towkay Tan Swee Hoe was one of the benefactors of the Premier English School which welcomed students from all racial backgrounds. The school survived the Japanese occupation reopening in 1947.

Son: Tan Suan Khiong / Tan Swan KhianHis eldest son, Tan Swan Khian (or Tan Suan Khiong), passed away at the age of 54 on March 27, 1948.
He was the Chairman of Ho Hee Ltd, Batu Pahat; chairman of Ho Guan Investment, Singapore and a director of Ho Aik Steamships, Singapore.
He left behind a widow and 12 children. Tan Swan Khian is buried in a chinese cemetery off Jalan Tanjung Labuh, Batu Pahat.

Born in Singapore, Mr. Tan Suan Kok was the Malaya Chinese Association (M.C.A.) Youth Chairman (1956). In the Johore election in 1954, for the electorate of Batu Pahat Inland, he won with 91.76 of the votes. In 1959, he left /resigned from M.C.A. party and ran the Batu Pahat elections as an independent candidate. He lost in the election to another independent candidate, Syed Esa bin Alwee. (9495 votes to his 4238). From what i gather a new splinter party was eventually created called the United Democratic Party (U.D.P.) was formed in April 1968. At the elm was Dr. Lim Chong Eu (former MCA President). The committee includes; Raja Sulaiman, Tara Singh, Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Ishak (vice-chairman). Tan Suan Kok was the Treasurer.
In 1973, he was conferred the title Dato Paduka Mahkota Johore by the Sultan of Johore.
Dato. Tan Suan Kok, D.PM.J., S.P.M.J., passed away on 23 March 1978. The cortege left from Khoon Yew Association, Batu Pahat, Johore on 28 March 1978. From the below, the notice was inserted by his sisters, Tan Kim Bee, Tan Kim Chee, Tan Kim Lien, Tan Kim Pai and Tan Kim Bay.
Dato. Tan Suan Kok wife is Datin Anna Tan nee Lim Soon Loon. I gathered from another article, their children are; Tan Chee Ling, Tan Chee May.

Tan Suan Poh was conferred the Dato Paduka Mahkota Johor (D.P.M.J.) in 1976 on the occasion of the 82nd Birthday of the Sultan of Johore. Tuan Suan Poh passed away on July 16, 1985 at the age of 56. He is survived by;
