Wee Ban Cheng (Bukit Brown)

The tomb of Mr. Wee Ban Cheng have already been exhumed but it contains some information that enables to piece together a bit of his family tree.

On the marble stone, i can make out -

Died on the 16 February 2603 (translates to 1943)

Gone but not forgotten

From the tomb shoulder, i can only make out the name of his sons;

Wee Teck Yong, Wee Teck Whatt, Wee Teck Swee

Wee Ban Cheng passed away at the age of 48 on 16 February 1943. 

Wee Ban Cheng was a storekeeper for Messrs. MacAlister & Co., Ltd. 

Wee Ban Cheng was the Patron of the Gunong Sayang Association (1930-1931), Patron for the Eng Wah Kok Association, Patron for the Gaylads Minstrels (1935)

The engagement is announced on 29 September 1941 between Mr. Ho Choy Kuen (fourth son of Mr. Ho Chin Thiam and the late Mrs. Ho Chin Thiam) and Miss Winnie Wee (eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wee Ban Cheng).  The wedding took place at the Registry of Marriages on 7 January 1942. 

Daughter: Mary Wee Chye Keng

The marriage took place on 19 June 1943 between Mr. Ong Kian Bee (second son of Mr. and Mrs. Ong Chip Hee ) and Miss Mary Wee Chye Keng (second daughter of Madam Khoo Ann Neo and the late Mr. Wee Ban Cheng). 

Daughter: Lily Wee Chye Oo / Mrs. Soh Chee Kian 

Lily Wee Chye Oo (youngest daughter of Madam Khoo Ann Neo and the late Mr, Wee Ban Cheng) married Mr. Soh Chee Kian in April 1949. The bridesmaid were Misses Rita Ong and Ong Gek Siew.
