Football fans as well as pub owners in Singapore read with fear that there might be no live telecast of English Premier League (EPL) matches today. Our local cable television operator (Starhub) could not come to an deal agreement with ESPN StarSports, on what the local cable provider claims that ESPN wants to charge 6 times more that what it has previously paid last season.
Hardcore EPL fans who spent their weekend glued to their tvs are crying out bloody murder while pub owners can kiss some of their beer profits goodbye!! Retrenchment are in the pipeline for the sexy football babes at devils bar (oh no !!!) if this doesn't get resolved....
Well, my theory derives from the fact that recently, the government announced lots of incentives to get married couples to have kids. This includes subsidised maid levies, tax incentives, longer maternity leave, five day working week...all to encourage family well-being and of course keep the stork busy..

World oil crisis.....Bird flu in M'sia leading to expensive egg crisis..and now EPL crisis...How much more bad news can we take !!!!!! groan....
hmmmm...this got me thinking again( hey!! i am on a roll here) . Maybe this is more that what it seems....Studying deeper, it seems more like some hidden agenda to get people to have more babies !! [Read on if you like or just say "bullshit" ]Well, my theory derives from the fact that recently, the government announced lots of incentives to get married couples to have kids. - No EPL = the boys spent more time during weekends at home or with their love ones, hopefully they do more woppie ---- HEY more babies !!!
- Oil crisis = people cut cost by conserving energy, travelling less and stay home more. one thing led to another..." ba da boom..ba da bang".......HEY more babies !!!
- Expensive chicken and eggs - Now how this helps in our goverment policy for more babies....hmmmmmmmmmm [this is tricky] ...any conspiracy theorist out there that can help me see the link ??
Whatever it is !! Kudos to our leaders for a well thought policy.... To the rest of us with no plans tonite, no football to watch, to broke to travel, to cheapskate to buy eggs.........what u waiting, go make babies lah.... or become a Priest.
Interesting viewpoints. Good material for standup comedy, if you're thinking of doing one. Ok, let me switch to my "Conspiracy Theorist" mode: For the expensive eggs and chicken, it's another subtly engineered project to create conversation topics for MEN, who need something to occupy their time, now that the men have no EPL. You know, guys aren't much into talking so the government has to give damn obvious conversation topics for men. Besides, "Eggs" and "Birds", I mean these are related topics where making babies are concerned, ain't it?
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm no football fan so I don't know what's the fuss about "live" EPL. Does it make a difference if it iss "live", as opposed to watching a delayed telecast? Maybe it's this very human thing to want to be first in everything, or rather, don't want to be second when it comes to news.
I don't even like recorded shows not to even say delayed ones.
ReplyDeleteLive football, I don't watch, cos' no cable. but can understand the shiokness of LIVE TV.

Evidently, Daniel likes to repeat himself, although he doesn't watch repeat telecasts of EPL, heh heh
