Teo Beng Lee and family (Lao Sua)

I first saw Teo Beng Lee's tomb in May 2014 while exploring the jungle parts of Lao Sua on the way to Toa Payoh Cemetery together with Raymond Goh. It was a tiring hike and didn't think much of it until i was going through my photo album again 6 years later. So this is one of those long, long, long overdue post of  Teo Beng Lee and family. Hopefully, one day i am able to retrace the steps and find this tomb again. [postnote: On 14th February 2021, i manage to revisit this tomb again and added more details to this article] 

Teo Beng Lee passed away on 15 July 1926 at the age of 58. Teo Beng Lee residence was at No 56-3 Neil Road but when he was seriously ill, he was brought to No. 58 Chetty Road off Jalan Besar, Singapore. He is survived by 3 sons; Teo Seong Moh (of Perry & Co), Teo Seong Keng (of Municipality) and Teo Jee Leong (of Straits Steamship Co), 3 daughters, 1 son-in-law, Mr. Lim Bah Chik (Chinchew of S.S. Kamuning), 2 daughter-in-law, several grandchildren, and uncle of Mr. Lim Kee Cheok, J.P, M.C. Teo Beng Lee is be buried at Lao Suan (colloquially known as Tan Gulong).
Madam Kow Hock Neo nee Mrs. Teo Beng Lee passed away at the age of 48 on 29th October 1918. Kow Hock Neo is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kow Eng Seng.

From the most recent visit of the tomb of Mr. and Mrs. Teo Beng Lee, the names of their children are as follows:
Sons: Teo Seong Moh, Teo Seong Keng, Teo Jee Leong
Daughters: Teo Hood Neo, Teo Hye Neo, Teo Plan Neo
Grandsons: Teo Quee Eng, Teo Quee Beng, Teo Poh Ann, Teo Poh Choon, Teo Tian Chwee

Family

Father-in-law: Kow Eng Seng
Kow Eng Seng passed away at the age of 82 on 25th May 1922 at his residence, No 74 Cantonment Road. He leaves behind a widow, 2 sons, Kow Kim Leong, Kow Kim Jan, a daughter, Kow Chee Neo and son-in-law, Teo Beng Lee, 4 grandsons, 8 granddaughters, 7 great grandsons and 4 great grand daughters to mourn his loss. The funeral will take place at the Bukit Brown Cemetery, Bukit Timah on 28th May 1922 (making him one of the earliest burials in Bukit Brown as a Municipal Cemetery.

Son: Teo Jee Leong
Teo Jee Leong, the youngest son of the late Mr. & Mrs Teo Beng Lee, 44 Blair Road married Miss Tay Imm Neo, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs Tay Kim Yan of "Mossdale" Lorong C, East Coar. The wedding took place on 11th January 1930. Mr. Teo Seong Moh issued invitations to the dinner at 44 Blair Road, off Spottiswoode Park Road, Chop Kim Kiat on the occasion of the marriage of his youngest brother, Teo Jee Leong. The group behind are likely members of the Forget-Me-Not Party.

Son-in-law: Lim Bah Chik 
Lim Bah Chik retired Chin Chew Straits Steamship Co. Ltd passed away at the age of 79 on 26th June 1956 leaving behind his wife, Madam Teo Hood Neo, only son Lim Tian Chwee, daughter-in-law, Song Hood Neo, 3 daughters, Diana Lim Chin Neo, Joyce Lim Bee Neo and Violet Lim Bong Soo, 2 sons-in-law; Tan Sin Kiat and Ee Hock Chiang, 1 adopted granddaughter, 1 grandson-in-law, and several grandchildren. The cortege left from No. 8 Carpmael Road for Buddhist Cremation Ground, Upper Aljunied Road.

The tomb is located in Toa Payoh Cemetery which we coined as Lao Sua.
