Maria Chan Ah Choo (9 May 1913 - 3 August 1969) was a Teochew Catholic business woman that ran a provision shop at Chestnut Drive by the name of Sin Soon Huat. She inherited the provision from her father. Maria Chan Ah Choo's husband passed away young and she became the sole woman responsible for bringing up the family. Most of her customers were the Catholic Teochew community and the Malay community that also lived around the area and the provision shops transactions at that time in the provision shop were commonly done on credit that was settled on a monthly basis.
Her children were;
Son: Joseph Ang Ah Tee, Richard Ang Yong Siang
Daughter: Theresa Ang Ah Ley

When Maria Chan Ah Choo passed away at the age of 59 in 1969, the provision shop was taken over by her daughter, Theresa Ang.

Son: Ang Ah Tee / Joseph Ang Ah Tee
Ang Ah Tee (b. 11 November 1943, Singapore–) is a veteran Singaporean artist known for his acrylic, watercolour and oil paintings. Ang Ah Tee was conferred the Cultural Medallion in 2009. While he was a student at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts from 1960 to 1962, he was mentored by the pioneer artists Cheong Soo Pieng and Georgette Chen. Ang and his wife, Adeline, have one son, Jeremiah, who is a photographer.
It was from the oral interview on Ang Ah Tee that i managed to piece that the name Joseph Ang Ah Tee on Maria Chan Ah Choo tomb is the Ang Ah Tee the artist although through the interview, the interviewer didn't even ask him for his father and mother's name !

Tomb Mason
The tomb mason that was contracted to build the statute of Mother Mary (?) praying on a marble pedestal was Lim Hock Seng Co. Tel: 87407. I have no information at the moment where this tomb mason is located.
