Madam Siow Piang Neo passed away at the age of 65 on 25th February 1927. The damaged marble headstone of Madam Siow Piang Neo with transfer printed tiles on the tomb shoulder is still visible with the names of her children;
Son's: Ngoon Hoey Hye, Ngoon Hoey San,
Daughters: Ngoon Eng Neo, Ngoon Swee Neo
Grandsons: Ngoon Cheng Kim
Grand-daughters: Ngoon Bulat Neo, Ngoon Busok Neo, Ngoon Dolly Neo
Other than the fact the surname of the children sounds unique, your attention will be the drawn to the names of her grand-daughters, Ngoon Bulat Neo (malay for round) and Ngoon Busok Neo (malay for smelly). Such colloquial and endearing names exist only in tombs of this region (Malaysia, Singapore and maybe Indonesia ) during a short period of time and are also distinct elements that what makes Bukit Brown a truly unique cemetery. Hopefully this cultural heritage element will be taken into account in its future preservation.
