Revisiting Bukit Brown Hill

If you refer to the old map titled: Map Of The Island Of Singapore And Its Dependencies 1898 you will see, in that map - Bukit Brown was mentioned clearly. The number below it is also clearly visible; 138 ft.

Fortunately with the many experts in the Bukit Brown community, we already figured out where it is and the location is of course not in Bukit Brown Cemetery but in the jungles of Lao Sua.
(8RJF+56W Singapore or 1.330479, 103.823089 ).

Another wonderful find was the evidence of a stone pillar with no markings except a round indentation at the top of it near the spot where it is mention in the old 1898 maps. Near the top of the hill, it was identified to be a survey marker or triangulation station (a trigonometrical point or informally as a trig). This old markers from colonial time to be around are indeed a rare find.

So how high is Bukit Brown Hill ?

Making reference to 2 maps (the first one, a Topographic map from 1970 and the second is onemap.gov.sg) helps me also to make some elevation estimates of the hill known as Bukit Brown Hill in the old maps. In the Topographic map, the highest point is between 140- 144 feet while from OneMap, that point is about 40 meter.

My guess is that the survey marker or trig point is between 42-44 meters above the mean sea level.
