Lim Chin Kiat was the Proprietor of Messrs. Swee Kiat Ship-chandlery Company at No 42, Cross Street. Lim Chin Kiat (Lim Chin Keat) passed away at the age of 51 at his residence, No. 46 Owen Road on 11 April 1925. He leaves behind a widow, 2 daughters, a son-in-law, Mr. Goh Peng Lock and a grandchild to mourn his loss.
Madam Ong Siok Hay (wife of Mr. Lim Chin Kiat) passed away on 10 June 1929. From her tomb. i can make out the name of their son, Lim Kok Cheng but the names of her daughters were covered by a fig branch. Fortunately from Singapore Tombstones Epigraphic Materials 新加坡墓碑铭集录 blog, i can gather the names of their children;Son: Lim Kok Cheng
Daughters: Lim Peck Neo, Lim Siong Neo
I am puzzled that in the death notice of Lim Chin Kiat in 1925, it does not mentioned that he has a son, while the tombstone does. Is it because the son passed away before him?
