Wee Chim Yean revisited (Mandai Columbarium)

Wee Chim Yean / Oei Chim Yean was one of the few chinese pioneers that was buried in Bukit Brown  with this Kapitan Cina title in Bukit Brown. The others were: 
Unfortunately, Wee Chim Yean's beautiful tomb was also one of the many that was also affected by the construction of Lornie Highway. His LTA stake number was 1838. From his niche at Mandai Columbarium, i finally got a glimpse of his portrait for the first time and additional crucial information about his family were fortunately etched there as well:

Kapitan Cina of Bengkalis Sumatra 

Wee Chim Yean (1885-1926) was the Capitan China or Kapitan China of Bengkalis or Kapiten de Chinezen - Bengkalis. Bengkalis is a place is the Riau archipelago off east coast Sumatra Islands.  He is the youngest son of Wee Leong Tan alias Wee Tan (1833- May 1913), who was also once the Capitan China of Bengkalis and brother of Wee Ann Kee (died 1914) and Wee Kim Cheng of chop Kim Hock Hoe which later become a limited liability company of the same name (Kim Hock Hoe Ltd).

Wee Chim Yean died in the residences of his sister-in-law (Mrs. Wee Ann Kee) at 28 Stanley Street on 13 Aug 1926. He was 41 years old. He left behind 4 sons and 4 daughters to mourn his loss. He was reported to have died from typhoid fever and pneumonia. Wee Chim Yean was buried in Bukit Brown, Blk 2, Division D. On his grave are the inscriptions 甲政 = (Captain) and 和国 = Holland.

Madam Gan Lan Eng nee Mrs. Oei Chim Yan passed away at the age of 100 on 2 Jan 1995. 
In her obituary i can finally gather more information about their family and also confirm the connection to Tan Kheam Hock family tree line - via the marriage of Wee Siew Geok to Tan Chong Boon
