Dorab Khurshedj Mistry (Choa Chu Kang Parsi Cemetery)

Mr. Dorab Khurshedj Mistry (30 July 1906 - 31 May 1973) was an executive with Fraser and Co. (a sharebrokers firm). Born in Shanghai, he came down to Singapore after the Japanese occupation. Mr. Dorab K. Mistry was known as a champion blood donor and received the Public Service Medal in 1964 after he made over 60 donations to the Singapore Blood Transfusion Centre. He passed away at the Outram Hospital on 31 May 1973 (like to be complications after a kidney operation. He was buried at the Parsi Cemetery, off 9 1/2 mile Tampines Road.

Blood Donors Feted

On 9 December 1961, The Yang di-Pertuan Negara, Inche Yusof bin Ishak hosted 80 Singapore blood donors (all gold medal donors who have donated blood at least 20 times). Among them is Mr. Dorab K. Mistry (who was the champion blood donor among the group having donated 52 times).
