Chew Kok Teow was the vice-president of Silver Star Minstrels (1937,1938) in its 8th annual general meeting. A 1934 list a Silver Star Minstrels gathering at Mr. Chew Kok Teow's residence at No. 38 Amber Road. It is this residence which i could link to his son, Chew Keng Hock who also had music practice for the Silver Star Minstrels also in 1934. His son, Chew Keng Chye had a music practice for the Silver Star Minstrels at his residence, No. 229 Joo Chiat Road.
Unconfirm identity and links
In 1931, Lim Nee Soon ordered a writ against Chew Kok Teow (late of No. 2 Lorong 27 Geylang) for money loan to him in the amount of $670. In a much earlier article dated 1921, a Chew Kok Teow (of 92-A Neil Road) managed buses, No. 3864, 3978 & 3729 for a festival at St. Joseph's Church, Bukit Timah. Unfortunately i not able to co-relate that the mention person(s) are indeed the same Chew Kok Teow, spouse of Madam Ang Chye Neo as there are no obituary notices which i could locate about both of them.
Sons: Chew Keng Hock, Chew Keng Chye, Chew Keng Kat, Chew Keng Huat |
