Yeo Bian Hong (Bukit Brown)

Yeo Bian Hong (of Yeo Bian Chuan & Co.) passed away at the age of 72 on 13 December 1941. From his tomb, i can make out the names of his children;
Son: Yeo Cheng Hock
Grandsons: Yeo Ban Hock, Yeo Wee Lam, Yeo Wee Pak
His residence was listed as 427 Race Course Road.

Wife: Madam Chan Bee Neo
Madam Chan Bee Neo (wife of Yeo Bian Hong, of Yeo Bian Chuan & Co.) passed away at the age of
49 at her residence, No. 427 Race Course Road on 31 August 1926. She leaves behind her husband and a son, Yeo Bong Soo to mourn her loss.

Yeo Bian Hong

Interestingly enough when Yeo Bong Soo name is mentioned, i recall that Yeo Bong Soo was also mentioned as a son of Yeo Bian Chuan.  In fact, Yeo Bong Soo was the executor of the estate of Yeo Bian Hong in 1942.

Son (?) : Yeo Bong Soo
It is fortunate that from the name of the children in Yeo Bian Hong tomb, i can match an obituary notice of Yeo Bong Soo to them. Yeo Bong Soo passed away on 29 October 1980. He leaves behind;
Sons: Yeo Wee Lam (William), Yeo Wee Pak (Eric), Yeo Wee Aik (Robert), Yeo Wee Lee
Daughters: Yeo Peck Hoon (Easlie) (Pauline),  Yeo Peck Hay (Dolly), Yeo Peck Goh (Lucy)
3 sons-in-law, 3 daughters-in-law and 14 grandchildren.

Brother: Yeo Bian Chuan
Yeo Bian Chuan was born in Rhio (Riau island of Indonesia which was under Netherlands East Indies control). He came at a very young age to Singapore and was educated in Singapore. He was a produce broker and the senior partner of Messrs. Yeo Bian Chuan and Co, 22-A Change Alley. After residing in the Straits Settlement for the past 52 years, he was naturalised as a British subject in 1921. Yeo Bian Chuan was also known as the "forgotten hero", a chinese towkay that saved the lives of no less of 17 Europeans during the "Singapore Mutiny". Yeo Bian Chuan passed away on October 2, 1929 shortly after the death of his wife, at his residence in 155 Pasir Panjang Road. He leaves behind a son, Yeo Bong Soo and a daughter, Madam Yeo Seok Bee (Mrs. Ong Hup Keng).
