Miss. Lee Kwee Neo passed away at the age of 19 on 25th August 1929. The tomb is very unique as the word "Spinster" appears very clearly. This is my first time seeing such a word being used for a young girl.
From most dictionaries, the definition of a spinster is;
" A single woman who is old enough to be married but isn't".
"A woman who is not married, especially a woman who is no longer young and seems unlikely ever to marry".

Such a word will be offensive in today's context but maybe during Miss. Lee Kwee Neo's time, it was more common for woman her age to be already engaged or already married. Whatever the reason maybe, this label is indeed still very rare !

Miss. Lee Kwee Neo (on the burial registrar, Lee Quee Neo ) is located at Block 3 Division A, plot 1174. (very close to the tomb of Sng Eke Ewe).
