Mrs. Chew Siew Hai (Toa Payoh Cemetery)

Madam Toh Kim Yong nee Mrs. Chew Siew Hai is the first wife of Mr. Chew Siew Hai. She passed away on 7 October 1944. Listed on her tomb are the name of her children; Chew Sim Lim, Chew Hong Lim, Chew Peng Nan, Chew Peng Chang (reference). Her husband, Chew Siew Hai is a son of Chew Geok Leong who send him to study Chinese medicine in Shanghai in 1929. It was there, Chew Siew Hai met Madam Toh, who supported his studies in the initial years. They subsequently married and eventually returned to Singapore in October 1937. She passed away in 1944 after facing difficulties during childbirth.

Madam Toh Kim Yong was  26 years old when she graduated in 1937 in Banking.

Chan Siew Hai is the son of Chew Geok Leong / Chew Giok Leong. Chan Siew Hai passed away at the age of 72 on 13 April 1983. He is survived by his wife, Teo Kah Eng and children;
Sons: Chew Sim Li, James, Chew Hong Lim, Chew Soon Beng @ Teo Soon Beng, Chew Eng Guan, Chew Eng Chuan, Bobby, Chew Eng Lam
Daughters: Chew Peng Nan, Rosy Chew, Chew Choo Heng, Catherine

Location of tomb 

Madam Toh Kim Yong nee Mrs. Chew Siew Hai tomb is located at Toa Payoh Cemetery. Its location is up a ridge that can be access from a path along Hill 3 Division C that forks to a dirt track that leads to Gymkhana. Right at the start of that path is a tombkeepers hut. Walk uphill and tomb would not be to difficult to locate.
