Philip Adrian Peris (23 August 1896-15 December 1985) served for the Public Works Department for 40 years in 3 different states. His service eventually earned him the award of an Honorary Member of the British Empire (M.B.E) in the Queen's Birthday honours in 1954. Mr. Peris retired in 1952, was the first in Perak to be appointed an engineering assistant (a super-scale appointment, the highest to which technical assistants can aspire).
The first Asiatic to be promoted to the position of Engineering Assistant, Public Works Department, Malaya Union is Mr. P.A. Peris of the Works and Buildings, P.W. D. Ipoh in 1947. He has been holding the appointment of the special grade technical assistant since 1939. Mr. Peris came from Seremban to Ipoh on transfer in 1939 to succeed Mr. R. Skelchy. He first joined in May 1912 and was first attached to the Government Architectural Office, PWD, Kuala Lumpur were he was for 12 years before heading to Jelubu as Chief Overseer and later in 1931, as building inspector in Seremban before coming to Ipoh.
Mr. Philip Adrian Peris passed away on 15 December 1985 at the age of 89.

Pkacido Peris was born in Macau and when he passed away in 1944, he was buried in Loke Yew Cemetery in Kuala Lumpur.
Son: Percy Andrew Peris
Mr. Percy Andrew Peris (P.A. Peris) was the airport manager of Kota Bahru, Ipoh and others.

Philip Adrian Peris tomb is located with the St. Michael's Catholic Church Cemetery grounds. The headstone reads;
R.I.P

and called to rest 15th December 1985

Upright and just to the end of his days
sincere and true in heart and mind.
