Straits Typewriter Agency

Straits Typewriter Agency was established in 1914 and located at 14-A Change Alley Singapore. Lim Leong Geok was the managing partner till his death in 1937. His brother, Lim Choon Leng was the Manager until he passed away in 1930. Lim Teck Swee (son of Lim Leong Geok) took over running of the business until he passed on in 1978. I have found various information about the company starting from a newspaper advertisement from 1922 when it was in No 6-A Change Alley before moving to No 14-A Change Alley. In later years, it was at Central Building #01-25

In an interview on 27 May 1984 titled Computers start to put the bite on companies, Herbert Lim who help runs the family business of Straits Typewriter Agency said that business has drop by 1/3 in the last couple of years and he expects the situation to get worst. The last advertisement i saw with mention of Straits Typewriter Agency was in 1986.
