Chan Kok Chiang (Bukit Brown)

Chan Kok Chiang, in 1920 was an honoray assistant secretary for the Lion City Club (The hon. secretary during the same period was Mr. Chua Keh Hai). Chan Kok Chiang passed away at the age of 27 on 11th February 1924. There are no names of children listed on his tomb, but there was an article that mentioned: Mr. Chan Cheng Kang and family of the late Mr. Chan Kok Chiang thanked all those friends and relatives who kindly attended the funeral and those, especially the Europeans and friends of the Singapore Cold Storage Co., for their wreaths and letter of condolences. Although not clearly stated, it is likely that Chan Cheng Kang is the father of Chan Kok Chiang. 

Chan Cheng Kang, a pensioner of Sime Darby & Co. Ltd passed away on 27th June 1931 at the age of 74 at his son's residence ( Shift Engineers quarters, Woodleigh Pumping Station), opposite Bidadari Cemetery, Upper Serangoon Road leaving behind to mourn his loss, 5 sons; Chan Kok Chuan, Chan Kok Seng, Chan Kok Liang, Chan Kok Choo, Chan Kok Tuan, 5 daughter-in-laws, 4 daughters, 4 son-in-law, Tan Eng Hoon, Tan Teng Leong, Tan Soo Whatt, Tan Hood Khee and 32 grandchildren. Chan Cheng Kang is buried in Bukit Brown. (Chan Cheng Kang is buried in Hill 3, Division B, plot 827).
