Smallpox
In 18 May 1910, Lim Hong Hock, Lee Ah Kit, Wee Chye Eng, Lim Hong Quee and Lim Hong Teck were charged with failing to report a case of small pox. Lim Hong Quee and Lim Hong Teck faced additional charge with committing and act likely to spread a dangerous disease (Lim Hong Quee and Lim Hong Teck worked as book keeper and cashier for Messrs Behn Meyer and Co.'s offices). On 14 April, the Municipal Sanitary Department visited 125 Neil Road and found them infected with smallpox. For the charge of failing to report, the family members were fine $25 each. For the cook of the house (Lee Ah Kit), he was fine $10.

A clue and family connection that lead me to connect Madam Wee Chye Eng nee Mrs. Lim Chin Swee to Lim Eng Keng (1837-1892) was the obituary notice of Lim Ewe Boon. Lim Ewe Boon passed away at the age of 20 on 16 March 1928. He is the eldest son of Mr. Lim Hong Quee, grandson of the late Mr. Lim Chin Swee and great grandson of the late Mr. Lim Eng Keng. Lim Ewe Boon is buried in Bukit Brown, pauper section 8, plot 311.
