Mrs. Chia Cheng Hoe nee Chan Sian Hay (Lao Sua)

Madam Chia Sian Hay (1885-1914) passed away at the age of 29 on 19 January 1914. She is the first wife of Mr. Chia Cheng Hoe. Piecing together information from Raymond Goh's blog and Geni.com i am able to find out a bit more about her husband and family. As for Madam Chan Sian Hay tomb, her tomb is severely damaged by a huge fallen tree. Fortunately, the tomb shoulder with her name, age and date of death is now visible compared to the one in the blog article.  



Madam Chan Sian Hay (Mrs. Chia Cheng Hoe)



Chia Cheng Hoe chief storekeeper of the Imperial Chemical Industries received his long service after serving the company for 12 years. He received the wrist watch on 7 March 1952. He was also associated with the United Chinese Musical Association (President for a number of years). 



Wife: Chan Say Ghim (1898-1974)
Chia Cheng Hoe remarried to Madam Chan Say Ghim  on 21 November 1917. She is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chan Kian Watt.  Mrs. Chia Cheng Hoe nee Chan Say Ghim passed away at the age of 76 on 20 June 1974, leaving behind;
Sons: Willie Chia, Charlie Chia, Walter Chia
Daughters: Nellie Chia, Lilly Chia, Peggy Chia
3 daughters-in-law , 2 sons-in-law and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The cortege left from 48 Joo Chiat Avenue.


Mother: Mrs. Chia Peck Koon
Chia Cheng Hoe and Chia Cheng Jin of  No 35 Chin Chow Street thank friends for their attendance at the funeral of their mother on 13 August 1909. 

Mother-in-law: Madam Lim Yew Gek 
Madam Lim Yew Gek, mother-in-law of Mr. Chia Cheng Hoe of Singapore Agency Company passed away at No. 13 Martin Lane on 6 March 1926. She leaves her son, Chan Sian Cheng, 2 grand daughters, Annie Chia and Nellie Chia. She is buried at Bukit Brown.

Brother: Chia Cheng Jin
Chia Cheng Jin passed away at the age of 42 at his residence No. 17 Kim Yam Road on 12 June 1931. He leaves behind his mother, his wife, 1 son and 2 daughters. He is buried in Bukit Brown.

Daughter: Annie Chia 
The engagement is announced of Mr. Ang Kay Guan (nephew of Mr. Tan Cheng Watt) and Miss Annie Chia (eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chia Cheng Hoe. The marriage will take place on 28 March 1929. Ang Kay Guan (son-in-law of Mr. Chia Cheng Hoe) passed away at his residence, 6 Pulasan Road on 14 Feb 1946. He leaves behind his wife, 2 sons, 3 daughters. He was buried in Bidadari. 

Daughter: Nellie Chia 
The engagement is announced of Mr. Ong Hock Poh (second son of Mr. and Mrs. Ong Kiam Guan) and Miss Nellie Chia (second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chia Cheng Hoe) on March 1933. 

Son: Willie Chia
Engagement was announced between Mr. Willie Chia (eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Chia Cheng Hoe) and Miss Lilian Ho (eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ho Kim Seng). 

Son: Charlie Chia Swee Kim 
The engagement is announced between Charlie Chia Swee Kim (second son of Mr. and Mrs. Chia Cheng Hoe) to Miss Maggie Wee Geok Neo (only daughter of the late Mr. Wee Chin Hock and Mrs. Wee Chin Hock). The marriage will take place on 25 October 2603 (1943). Charlie Chia Swee kim passed away at the age of 67 on 29 June 1988. He is survived his wife; Maggie Wee Geok and children listed in his obituary notice.
