Yong Seng Limited Brickworks

This article was inspired by the finding of a brick that has the Brickwork company name on both sides and very interestingly on one side is English. Bricks are one of the most important material used in the tombs and we sometimes see different Brickworks and their stamp on it. To me this one is interesting as not only the company name is stamped on both sides, it has it in 2 languages, Yong Seng and 榮盛公司.

There was a notice put out in 7 April 1952 giving notice that Messrs. Tan Chim Koy, Tan Song Chay, Tan Song Kng and Tan Song Thiam and Madam Chang Gek Eng all of No. 294 River Valley Road, Singapore and shareholders of Yong Seng Limited, a company incorporated in the Colony of Singapore and carrying on business as a brick and wooden box manufacturers at Jalan Senang and No. 3, Ord Road Singapore have transferred their shares to Mr. Tan Sim Mong d No. 40, Niven Road Singapore.
The business premises of the company are now at No. 982 Geylang Road Singapore and not at No. 3 Ord Road.  Mr. Tan Sim Mong is the Director and Mr. Tan Chek Tong the Manager.

In 1968 -1970, Yong Seng Limited was put out for voluntary liquidation.  I don't have much information about the company itself but if i do, i will share it here.
