Right on top of Lao Sua ridge (above the temple area) is the beautiful tomb of Chua Swa Chwee's father and mother. The tomb is very impressive because of its tomb carvings by tomb masons of the past and is one of the unique ones because we know the cost - the $800 tomb (the nickname that we gave to this tomb as well). Unfortunately i do not know the real name of the man buried there other than the chinese characters which i gathered from Raymond's blog - 蔡全夘 (which could be an honorific name). His wife buried there is Madam Chew Keok Neo.

$800 tomb in 1919
Chop Chuan Hiap Seng whose business was operating for a long time at Alexandra Road (opposite to the Police Station) as Masons and now employed in the Hong Lim's Cemetery thanked Mr. Chua Swa Chwee of No. 19 Seah Street for presenting to them a sum of $800 (which was over and above the amount agreed) for the building of his father's grave.Unfortunately, i can't find further information about this tomb mason but the article itself gives us insight of how much the tomb cost in 1919 which is a fortune !
