This heavy marble headstone slab was shown to me by Raymond Goh in a cluster of 6 tomb (related to Cheang Hong Lim family with year of death from the 1860s onwards) remains a mystery for all of us for now. Located in Pauper I of Bukit Brown, it stands out like a sore thumb compared to the rest surrounding it. The rest are all in Chinese and pre-dates 1900. The other thing is the crest and the name of the person engraved on it. It reads;
In memory of
Meh Heng Dyson
Died 10th Feb 1912
Age 38
The western design tomb with unique crest bears also a unique name, Meh Heng Dyson. Who is he and what is the connection with the rest of the relocated tombs nearby it ? It is a mystery waiting to be solved.
Tomb of Meh Heng Dyson |
