When i have time, i revisit the Bukit Brown Documentation Website which documents tombs which are affected by the highway and no longer exist and reminisce on who they were and what were their stories, knowing that many remain undocumented despite efforts and in this case, i may not have the photo of this tomb.
Tan Beng Ann (Born 13 July 1904 - Died 24 March 1923) was only 18 years when he passed away after being ill for some time. Remember as a well-known and popular Singapore Chinese footballer and played for many matches as the starting 11 for the Singapore Chinese Football Association. The article gave further information that his home was at Queen Street a student of St. Joseph's Institution. Tan Beng Ann is the son of Tan Kim Seng and Yap Soo Neo.
A memorial cup called the Tan Beng Ann Memorial Cup was created for the athletic sports of the St. Joseph's Old Boys Association in honor of him.
