Wee Teck Seng revisited

Wee Teck Seng was well known both in Singapore and Tanjung Pinang, Rhio (Riau islands) and his assets was said to be worth at a quarter to half a million dollars in 1926. He was a shipping merchant in the earlier years before becoming a Banker and Industrialist. Wee Teck Seng sat as a Director in various Banks and companies. He was in the Board of Directors of Overseas Chinese Bank, Board of Directors of Chinese Commercial Bank, Hoe Lee Rubber Factory (Batu Pahat) and United Sawmills Limited.

Wee Teck Seng passed away at the age of 70 on 27 November 1930 at his residence No. 32 Balmoral Road. He leaves behind a wife,

4 sons: D. H.T. Wee, Messrs. Wee Hiap Swee, Wee Hiap Chin and Wee Chew Swee

3 daughters: Madam Wee Ann Neo, Miss Wee Siew Yong, Miss Wee Chee Lun

11 grandchildren, 1 son-in-law: Mr. Khoo Soo Chay.

On 3 May 1940, it was announced that probate of the late Estate of Wee Teck Seng (also known as Oei Tek Seng and Wee Ho Beng) was granted to Hiap Tock Wee

The Heather, 32 Balmoral

In March 1925, a large gathering was present to celebrate the 65th birthday of Towkay Wee Teck Seng. The spacious and lawn were beautifully decorated and about 150 guest gathered for dinner with English, Chinese and Malay ronggeng as entertainment afterwards.
