Madam Phua Kim Neo (Bukit Brown)

Madam Phua Kim Neo passed away on 3 October 1930. In the burial registrar her name is spelt as Puah Kim Neo and she passed away at the age of 53. Madam Phuah Kim Neo is the wife of Mr. Quake Aik Bin.

Bintang Pranakan ( A Straits-born chinese romanised malay newspaper) could be bought from C.E. Quake shop at 850 Geylang Road, Corner of Tanjong Katong Road. Other items that could be purchase includes string instruments such as the violin, mandoline, guitar and other pipe instruments. Another item mentioned was artificial flowers of various sorts that could for example be used to decorate the house during the New Year. The shop was also known as Quake Music Co. 

C.E. Quake and Bintang Pranakan 

Another item that was kindly shared to me recently by a great grand daughter of Madam Phua Kim Neo (Lilian Wong), who shared with the wedding invitation between Mr, Quake Chek Eann and Miss Chua Tit Neo (eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chua Ah Neo). The marriage took place on 7 January 1925. The invitation was send out by Mrs. Quake Aik Bin (Madam Phua Kim Neo) which also indicates to me the very possibility that Mr. Quake Aik Bin passed away before 1925.

Daughter: Quake Kit Neo / Mrs. Yap Kim Chuan 

The marriage of Mr. Yap Kim Chuan of No. 359F Kim Chuan Road (off Paya Lebar), eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Yap Geok Song to Miss Quake Kit Neo (eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Quake Aik Bin and younger sister of Mr. C. E. Quake) of No. 53, Kampong Wak Tanjong, Geylang took place on 10 September 1943. 

Mr. Yap Kim Chuan passed away at the age of 78 on July 21, 1975. He is survived by his wife, Madam Quak Kit Neo, 3 sons, Yap Hock Kee, Alwin C.B. Yap, Yap Chew Leong, 2 daughter-in-laws, 4 daughters, Yap Teck Neo, Yap Kin Neo, Yap Choo Neo, Yap Guat Eng, 3 son-in-law, 23 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. The cortege left 359F Kim Chuan Road.
