An idea for a day trip during this difficult period (Phase 3 of COVID-19) when most of us cannot travel abroad, is a trip to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. If you want to make it an inexpensive trip, you can first take the MRT all the way to Kranji MRT station. From there you can take bus number 925 and if it is a weekday, the bus stops stops after the dam (Kranji Way), where you can just make a short walk across the road to the Sungei Buloh Visitor Center. From here it is a nice pleasant walk from here to the Wetland Research Center and you can follow that the signs that will lead you to the new bridge over Buloh Besar River. If you are lucky and i was told that most visitors seem to be able to spot them on a regular basis are the Estuarine crocodile (Crocodylus porosus). The crocodiles have been calling Sungei Buloh their sanctuary as the rivers over on the Johor side have seen heavy development over the years especially property development. The bird life there is important as well and something people travel all the way to Sungei Buloh for, especially during the migratory season (October-March), you should be able to see a number of shore birds or waders.
"Tailless" the resident crocodile (Tailless was coined so because it was missing a bit of its tail. )
You do not want to be caught in their jaws. So pay attention and don't leave your children unattended

At the Research center of Sungei Buloh don't forget to look up as you may spot a colony of little red flying foxes (Pteropus scapulatus) where we commonly label them as bats. Don't forget to look closely as some of them would have pugs with them. Little red flying foxes (Pteropus scapulatus) are commonly called as bats, but in the case of this little red flying foxes, this colony can be easily spotted roosting at the Visitor Center of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. This bats play an important role in dispersing seeds and pollinating flowering plants and are crucial inthe biodiversity of plant life and in keeping native forests healthy. Without the little red flying foxes, there won't be durian for us to eat is an example of how the pollination of durian flowers are assisted by this bats.
