Yap Gim Cheng was an Honorary Secretary in the Thong Nghee Kok Association. In 1935, he was the Vice-President and President in 1940.
Yap Gim Cheng remarried in 1944 /1945 when the engagement was announced between Mr. Yap Gim Cheng of Dorset Road and Miss Chew Choon Neo (2nd daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chew Hock San of Dovenshire Road on 13th November 1944. The marriage took place shortly. Madam Chew Choon Neo (Mrs. Yap Gim Cheng) passed away at the age of 65 on 25th July 1979. She leaves behind her daughters, Lilian Yap and Babs Yap, brothers, sisters, grand and great grandchildren. The cortege left from 215 Dorset Road.

Location of tomb
In the burial registrar, Tan Choo Neo was listed as Tan Bong Soo. She is buried in Hill 5 Section D, plot 201. Her marble tomb beautifully restored and ceramic photo restored.
