Chua Cheng Yan passed away at the age of 57 on 3 November 1928. From the newspapers date 5 November 1928 (Malaya Tribune), Chua Cheng Yan passed away at the age of 57 at his residence, No. 1005 Serangoon Road. He leaves behind a widow, 2 sons, Chua Kwee Leng and Chua Kwee Lock, 1 daughter, and 1 son-in-law, Lee Hock Chuan, 1 granddaughter and 1 grandson.
Mrs. Chua Cheng Yan nee Madam Tan Boon Neo passed away at her residence, 889-C Simon Road on 18 February 1941. Mr. Chua Kwee Leong, Mr. amd Mrs. Chua Kwee Lock and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hock Chuan thanked friends and relatives for visits, wreaths and attendance. She is buried in Bidadari Cemetery.
Location of tomb
Chua Cheng Yan tomb is located at Block 2 Section F, plot 233. The tomb is unique as the decoratives tiles on the tomb shoulder are rare (as in i don't see many of this design pattern being used).

When his wife, Madam Chua Cheng Yan passed away, it was reported the the funeral was largely attended. Services at house and graveside were conducted by Rev. Chew Hock Hin and Rev. Goh Hoood Keng and many floral tributes from familiar names such as Messrs. Ong Sam Leong and Sons Ltd, Mr. and Mrs. Ong Boon Tat, Mr. and Mrs. Ong Peng Hock, Mr. and Mrs. Ong Tiang Wee and many others.
